Live and healthy specimens were collected along the  coast the Venetian Laguna, at the island La Certosa, and at the Adriatic sea coast of the Lido di Venezia, during low tides in the month of September 2019. The seaweeds were then washed thoroughly with seawater to remove extraneous materials and brought to the laboratory in plastic bags. Live and healthy specimens were collected along the  coast the Venetian Laguna, at the island La Certosa, and at the Adriatic sea coast of the Lido di Venezia, during low tides in the month of September 2019.  The cosmopolitan genus **Ulva (Chlorophyta)** Linnaeus includes species of green macroalgae found in marine, brackish and some freshwater environments. Although there is a wide literature for the determination of Ulva taxa in Europe, they are among the most problematic algae to accurately identify, because they have few distinctive features, as well as a high intraspecific variation. The cosmopolitan genus **Ulva (Chlorophyta)** Linnaeus includes species of green macroalgae found in marine, brackish and some freshwater environments.  Red algae, or Rhodophyta, are one of the oldest groups of eukaryotic algae. The Rhodophyta (red algae) are a distinct eukaryotic lineage characterized by the accessory photosynthetic pigments phycoerythrin, phycocyanin and allophycocyanins arranged in phycobilisomes, and the absence of flagella and centrioles. Red algae, or Rhodophyta, are one of the oldest groups of eukaryotic algae.  +**Ulva intestinalis**: The fronds have branches and are completely tubular expanding in width to mid-thallus, reaching 15 cm long or more. The cells are irregularly arranged and the chloroplast is hood-shaped and placed to one side, generally with only one pyrenoid.(wikipedia)
